Surprise Nighttime Proposal on a Rooftop in Chicago

Andreas reached out to me about proposing to his girlfriend Sarah of 8 years. He wanted it to be special, but she’s smart and pulling it off as a surprise would be challenging. He decided to propose on the rooftop of their apartment overlooking the Chicago city lights at night. To throw her off, he took her out to dinner in her birthday at the restaurant they had their first date, and later she said she thought he would ask at dinner. When he didn’t she put it off and didn’t think about it again, making it a total surprise just and hour later.

Andreas had a friend come help set up candles and hired me to photograph the proposal. We hid behind some furniture when they came up to the rooftop after dinner to look at the view. Then, with their special song Breakfast at Tiffany’s playing in the background, he got on one knee and asked Sarah to marry him and she said yes.

After the special moment they danced together to their song, and gave hugs to Lorre who helped set up. A quick stop for some champagne and a few more photos before some friends came over that Andreas asked to come celebrate their engagement!
