Haley & Rafael’s engagement session was iconic, not only because they chose some of the most stunning downtown Chicago scenery as the backdrop for their engagement photos, but also because they are the most fun couple to be around. Haley’s laugh is contagious, and there are always plenty of laughs to go around when Rafael is nearby. Their wedding at The Standard in Rockford is one of my most anticipated for next year. It’s one of the most stunning, sophisticated wedding venues in the Chicagoland area, and there two are already professional model status in my book.
We started off with some of the best views of the in-town Chicago skyline by the riverwalk. Classic iron bridges, romantic kisses, and a beautiful view of the skyscrapers make for some of the best engagement photos you will ever see. Then we made sure to stop by the Wrigley Building to get some architectural shots and a few with the Riverwalk too.
We stopped at the Lincoln Park Zoo to get more of a casual nature setting for some of their engagement photos. They are making their party favors for guests at the wedding and brought a few along as a prop – customized moscow mule mugs! If you know me, you know I’m a sucker for a good cocktail.
We ended off at North Avenue Beach to get some wider views with the city lights and some slow dancing on the open beach. They brought some champagne with from Rafael’s mom to celebrate their engagement with a toast during the sunset with the Chicago skyline in the background…the perfect way to end an engagement session!
Congrats Rafael & Haley!
I can’t wait for September at The Standard!!

[…] North Avenue Beach is another great spot if you want the Chicago Skyline in the background of your engagement photos. One side shows off some of the best views of Chi town and the Sears (*ahem Willis) tower. The beach on the other side of the running path is also a great spot to get some more beachy photos that still has skyline in the background and you can get a ton of great shots here. See more of this beautiful couple’s photos on the blog. […]
