How to Personalize Your Wedding

There are a million little choices to make, and you don’t want your wedding to feel like everyone else’s. So what are those perfect little details that will wow your guests and make your wedding a day only you could create?

PICK A UNIQUE VENUE THATS TRUE TO YOUR PERSONALITIES

The wedding venue sets the tone for the entire wedding. Whether you’re having a wedding at your home church and a reception at a restaurant, or you’re literally building your whole venue by redoing and old barn for an outdoor ceremony and rustic barn reception, the venue, colors and theme says a lot about you as a couple! One of the best choices for a venue is a place that has meaning to you! It could be your backyard, a favorite date spot, or a destination wedding in a city you’ve dreamed of visiting! Put some thought into your interests as individuals and as a couple. If you both love wine tasting, a winery is a beautiful location, or if you love gardening a botanical or Japanese Garden will say a lot about you and what you both love!

CUSTOMIZE THE GUEST EXPERIENCE 

Wedding guests really appreciate all the little details put into the theme throughout the wedding day. You can customize your programs (like we did!) with games and facts about the wedding party (like matching stories to the bridesmaids and groomsmen and a letter on the back thanking our guests), you can blow them away by adding personalization to wedding traditions! You could even add monogrammed names to their glasses to make it extra special! ADD YOUR OWN TWIST TO THE CEREMONY

Besides a few required things the officiant has to say to legally marry you, there are very few rules to what a wedding ceremony HAS to involve. This is the best way to make the wedding different from everyone else’s! Writing your own vows is one of the most touching and special parts of a wedding. You can tell personal stories and share your heart with the one you love in front of your closest friends and family. Instead of a unity candle, mix together you favorite wines and share a drink from shared wine glass (one of my favorite parts of Sam & Kevin’s wedding). You can even have special people who don’t fit the usual demographic in your wedding party, like having your mom as the MOH, or having your mentor as a groomsman like Russell did! Take a look at the “boring” parts of the wedding and think of ways you can add a little flair to the norm! There are tons and tons of fun products if you browse Etsy and Instagram! Look around for items that really stand out to you and find a fun way to incorporate them into your wedding day! You can change so many things about the traditional wedding day, like the seating arrangements, the meal and desserts (bundt cakes > wedding cake), and even your cocktail hour! Take this day and make it yours! There are no rules, and this day is about your love, not following the traditional guidelines! You can add a lot of flair with unique flowers in the bouquets or having your guests stand around you instead of sitting during the ceremony! Think outside the box and have fun with it!
